Alex Guex
somatic educator - Body-Mind Centering ®
Trained by Bonne Bainbridge Cohen, Anna Halprin, Nancy Stark Smith & Urs Stauffer
In 2010, I encountered Body-Mind Centering and Integrative Therapy (IT) through Urs Stauffer, who took me under his wing for several years, offering me a new path in life, one based on the body, movement, and touch. A lifelong commitment. I signed on. 2011 was spent in California (training as a movement-based art therapist with Anna Halprin, Life-Art Process). It was there that my teaching took its first steps, every Monday evening in San Francisco, and that I was deeply moved by my encounters with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.
Back in Europe in 2012, I embraced the nomadic lifestyle that the route of internships offered me across the continent. During this period, my activities quickly became based in the south of France, leading me to leave my native Switzerland. It was during these early years on the road that I completed my training as a BMC® somatic educator in Germany.
My involvement remains on the periphery of CI technical education, even though I occasionally participate in major European festivals.
I was quickly drawn to explore the dimension of touch, its quality, and its importance. In 2017, I founded and led "The Cycle" in France: a two-year program incorporating all my research. By 2025, it had supported over 70 people. Starting in 2022, I offered an international version of this training in Italy for Contact Improvisation teachers.
